It should take less than 15 mins to create and personalize your game.
3. Send players your unique game link
Text, email or post your unique game link of the crime scene to your party guests (you could even send it in a fancy Christmas party invitation or present!)
It contains their character information and hints and tips on how to play – so they can get prepared to play the game.
You (the game creator) will be the Host. And all your guests are the suspects.
The players won't be able to access or play until you start the game from the Hosts panel.
4. Play the game!
When you're ready to play your murder mystery – give the players access with a secret game code! (which is stored in your host panel) and get sleighing!
As the story unfolds you'll all play the murder mystery game together, sharing clues and evidence, over several rounds.
All suspects take part in the investigation, using their wit and skill to convince others that their motives and alibis are legit – to prove their innocence.
Rounds include a combination of:
- The Script – all the players read through a script together
- Questioning & Evidence – you all go off script and can talk openly about who you think is the killer! There will be prompts to help you pry clues and evidence out of each other
- Voting – where guests vote for who they think the murderer is
The whole game takes about 1-2 hours... it's just like being in your own murder mystery film!
Everyone takes part in the trial – using their best detective work to be the judge and jury! Once all the clues have been examined, at the end of the game, you'll find out what the murder weapon was, who's innocent, who has blood on their hands – and who's going to prison!
There's also a printable PDF version of the whodunnit game script too – just in case someone's battery dies!
How many players will we need?
A Christmas murder mystery typically involves a group of 6-10 players, usually made up of family and friends who gather together to celebrate the holidays. One person in the group is typically the host, one is the murderer, and the others are suspects and must use their detective skills to figure out whodunnit!
